Hydrophobic eutectic solvents: Thermophysical study and application in removal of pharmaceutical products from water

• Thymol + (octanoic or decanoic acid) eutectic solvents ([Thy]ESs) were studied. Thermophysical properties of [Thy]ESs are suitable to extraction processes. have high power dissolve poorly-water soluble drugs. allow removal drugs from water with efficiency. Exposure persistent contaminants presents a risk humans and animals. Specifically, the occurrence in aqueous ecosystems is related increase antimicrobial resistance. Several methods remove them been studied but most cost toxicity drawbacks. Thus, study new eco-sustainable procedures needed as liquid–liquid hydrophobic (ESs). In this study, we prepared six ESs mixtures thymol (Thy) octanoic acid (Oct) (Dec) evaluated their extractive ability quercetin ( Q ), nitrofurantoin NF tetracycline TC ). addition, measured, correlated, modelled both solid–liquid equilibria two systems seven thermophysical mixtures. From these calculations, obtained melting enthalpies points, isobaric thermal expansibilities, intermolecular free lengths, orientational dipolar parameters, thermodynamic surface, critical temperatures, activation energies viscous flow.
